Based on 0.8mm-thick Hokkaido calf leather, meticulously crafted by one of Japan's leading tanners, the leather is finished in a pale milky white (light beige) during the tanning process known as "shiro-nameshi" (white tanning), and then dyed in its finished product state. Leather that has undergone the time-consuming process of being tanned to a whitish color allows for very vibrant and pale hues to be achieved even in product dyeing. Furthermore, compared to conventional vegetable-tanned leather that is then product-dyed, this calf leather, even in leather jackets that have undergone product dyeing and shrinkage processing, stands out with its exceptionally soft and flexible texture. It also develops a relatively subdued grain and sheen over time, resulting in a sophisticated appearance. Its texture feels as comfortable as if it's clinging to your soft skin, offering an exceptionally comfortable fit.
Using the "shiro-nameshi" tanned base as described above, and with all sewing processes completed except for the attachment of the snap buttons, the product is then dyed using "botanical (logwood) dyeing." The dyeing and drying process, where the leather is dyed in a deep dark brown with an iron mordant, or in a unique dye that produces a deep brown by layering with other yellowish dyes, is repeated until the dye is fixed. This long and laborious process creates a product with a distinctive beautiful luster, a luxurious color, and a beautifully mottled brown hue. By performing advanced logwood dyeing in the product state, the garment achieves a well-balanced range of shades overall.
We have created a simply designed shirt that utilizes leather as its material and leverages the texture of the leather after product dyeing. This piece, which can be described as a leather shirt jacket, is constructed with a slightly loose fitting size and silhouette in mind. By using extremely soft, product-processed base leather, it is a leather garment that can be worn without hesitation and cherished in various ways. All buttons are metal buttons, and the leather shirt offers a fit that maximizes the texture and characteristics of the adopted leather. Being unlined, it is a lightweight leather shirt that can be easily worn throughout all seasons. Matching colored thread is used to complement the logwood dyed color.
