The leather is then further tanned with several vegetable tannins, including mimosa, in addition to oil, resulting in a supple texture not found in typical steerhide. The highly flexible base is then dyed, resulting in a leather garment with an exceptionally soft feel, even after shrinkage treatment. The black color achieved through dyeing, combined with the leather's abundant oil content, creates a rich, deep black color. In addition to the soft, lightweight feel of the leather, the thickness is also thinner than usual, at 0.6mm. Even the fishtail parka (mod parka), characterized by its drop shoulders for an overfitting fit, creates a simple, beautiful silhouette without any stiffness or bulk.
This all-leather fishtail parka is a classic for the Fall/Winter season. Based on the "M-51," this oversized silhouette features a newly constructed pattern, incorporating distinctive details like a fishtail (swallowtail-shaped split at the back hem) with a sewn-in leather drawcord, a fly front, and hand pocket flaps.
