The base is made from high-quality domestic steerhide, tanned with white tannins. The leather is then further tanned with several vegetable tannins, including mimosa, in addition to oils, resulting in a supple texture not found in typical steerhide. This creates a silhouette without any unpleasant stiffness or bulk. The extremely flexible base is then dyed in gray. Even after shrinkage, the finished product remains exceptionally soft. After adjusting the sizing, each piece is individually spray-dyed black, and then hand-shaved and wrinkled using a special liquid to create a realistic, distressed look. This new vintage process allows for a uniquely sophisticated finish, achieved by using a base made of leather rich in oil.
Taking advantage of the soft and light texture of the leather, we have adopted a thickness of 0.8mm for the vest, which is designed to provide warmth and volume, making it ideal for dealing with the changing weather conditions of the Autumn/Winter season.The casual fit allows for a wide variety of innerwear to be paired with this relaxed leather vest.
The design is inspired by the British military jerkin vest from the 1940s. It was originally worn by motorcycle messengers and tank drivers as cold weather gear over their overcoats and other outerwear. Based on a heavy-duty design, this vest has been adapted for modern wear, with a silhouette and sizing adjusted for a moderate oversize fit. Pockets are included for convenience when worn without outerwear. The front and back feature a seamless, refined design that takes advantage of the characteristics of the large leather. The lining is made of wool mohair shaggy, featuring soft pile and just the right amount of volume. It can be worn as a light outer layer over sweatshirts or layered over outerwear for added warmth, making it a versatile piece for a variety of occasions and styles.
