We use 1.0mm thick CHROMEXCEL (Chromexcel leather), a representative leather from HORWEEN (Horween) in the USA, which is tanned using traditional methods that have been thoroughly maintained for over 100 years. From a large quantity of raw hides, the tannery carefully inspects each one, selecting only steerhide hides that are 2.5mm thick or more. These carefully selected hides are then finished with a combination tanning process. A special oil, an original blend of four or more types of fats and oils including beef tallow, beeswax, vegetable oil, and fish oil, is then rubbed into and permeated throughout the leather, creating the special cowhide "Chromexcel leather." By carefully and slowly infusing the fats and oils into the leather at its own pace, requiring time and effort, this thick, highly durable leather, despite its thickness, is rich in oil. Its texture, which feels soft and substantial despite its weight, has continued to be highly regarded as a unique luxury leather unmatched by other leathers. As a top-dyed "tea-core" leather, you can enjoy the unique aging process where the underlying color emerges with continued wear and use.
