We use goat leather that has been slowly and carefully vegetable-tanned. While goat leather typically has a stiff, rugged image, by using a base that is thoroughly infused with oil, we've created a leather that is more comfortable to wear than conventional goat leather. We use tea-core goat leather, which means the surface is dyed black, but as you wear it, the black surface will rub away to reveal the brown core, creating a vintage leather aesthetic over time. Additionally, during the finishing process, the leather surface undergoes a special shrinking process using advanced techniques to create fine grain (shibo). This results in a luxurious leather with a more pronounced and durable grain compared to traditional goat leather. The presence of this grain makes the leather highly resistant to friction and very durable, and its elasticity also helps it maintain its shape. This garment is designed to be worn hard for many years, envisioning a deeply aged vintage leather jacket decades down the line. This jacket is a collaboration, produced by Backlash, featuring the Corbusier jacket design/pattern from the Yohji Yamamoto collection. It's a unique piece, born from a collaboration that takes the rustic silhouette and raw feel of large, lacquer-finished cowhide found in French vintage, and reinterprets it at a high level through flowing garment pattern structures and superior materials/processing techniques.
