This is a collaboration item where BACKLASH came up with the item's core idea, and Loud Style Design handled the specific design and production.
The cross rests on a base whose design source is the frame depicted in the upper right corner of a one-dollar bill. "ISAMU KATAYAMA BACKLASH" has long featured rosaries as a standard item, and "Loud Style Design" has frequently used the balance of the cross as a motif inherent in fundamental spirituality. By superimposing the cross motif on a frame symbolizing economics, the piece implicitly conveys that one's faith and beliefs are more important than economics.
BRAND PROFILE
Loud Style Design:
As a means to embody the aesthetics and philosophy common to cultures described as "LOUD," Loud Style Design pursues the beauty of edges and lines and the strength of forms created by directly processing metal. The items, completed when worn, create a style that intertwines with the story of the person who holds them.
CREATOR PROFILE
Tomoki Takacho
In 1999, he established REFUSE as a creative platform, focusing on silver accessories. He has developed his own brand and undertaken numerous design and prototype provisions, as well as direction for other companies.
He has participated in collections in Paris and New York, and in recent years, he has toured tattoo conventions in the US, performing live metal engraving at venues, consistently creating works that leverage the dynamism of forms created by direct metal processing.
He also handles direction and styling for magazines and videos and has collaborated with many musicians and artists.
