This leather is made from domestic horsehide that has been pit-tanned with tannin, then drum-tanned twice more to further penetrate the tannin. After dyeing large pieces of leather black, oil is infused and wax is applied to the surface. The leather is then pull-up glossed with a high-pressure iron, resulting in a color and finish specifically developed for this collaboration to express both beauty and gravitas. In contrast to the hard, heavy feel of vintage studded riders' jackets, this leather, rich in oil, is surprisingly comfortable and familiar to wear.
This riders' jacket features no product processing, instead decorated with three types of studs and original patches bearing the logos of both brands. Based on a collared single riders' jacket with prominent zippers, it uses 134 studs in total, with rhombus studs on the collar tips, pyramid studs above and below the waist pockets, and round studs around the hem and cuff zippers. Additionally, a patch specifically made for this riders' jacket is attached to the sleeve, creating a modern interpretation of a rocker-style jacket. It constructs a different riders' silhouette than the standard Backlash collection riders' jackets. The neutral silhouette is designed for the Yohji Yamamoto collaboration, allowing for an even wider range of styling proposals.
