This product is based on 0.9mm thick horsehide from Hokkaido, finished by one of Japan's leading tanners with a focus on domestic production. The leather used is a pale milky white (extremely light beige) base, achieved during the tanning process known as "white tanning." After being made into a product, the leather undergoes numerous processing steps including washing, spraying, wrinkling, and distressing. This gives the light-colored leather a worn, vintage feel right from the start. While most white leather used in leather wear is colored white with pigments, the biggest feature of this leather is that it is not dyed; it is an undyed leather finished with white tanning.
This is a G-1 flight jacket, adopted by the U.S. Navy Air Corps in the 1940s. While retaining the distinctive details of the original G-1, we've made improvements such as incorporating elastic into the action pleats on the back and making the collar's boa removable. By removing the boa, the jacket can be worn year-round, not just in winter. Italian shoulder leather is used for the front zipper pull. The front pockets are double-layered, allowing hands to be inserted from the side behind the flap pockets.
